Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008Does your church try to ignite a spark? Do they want to get people excited about the Word and the Church (and I don’t mean the building you’re in). Or, do they try to maintain the status quo and not try to rock the boat. Don’t offend. Don’t speak out against sin. Don’t get people thinking deeper than a bird bath.
Send Messages to Loved Ones After the Rapture
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008If you believe in a pre-tribulation or mid-tribulation rapture, the service I just discovered could be what you’re looking for. If you believe in post-tribulation, you’ll have something to criticize.
Faith Video
Friday, June 27th, 2008My brother sent me a link this week to one of the most inspirational videos I’ve seen in a long time. It’s about a two legged dog named Faith. Faith’s prognosis from the vet was not good. But her family was determined to help her. Their dedication created a dog who became a lot more self sufficient then anyone would’ve expected. And the video shows how happy she is as well. The family talks about how God sent them Faith to help minister to them after a horrible time for their family.
George Carlin and Facing Eternity
Wednesday, June 25th, 2008I didn’t know Mr. Carlin. I didn’t know his personal life. All I can really know is what he chose to reveal publicly. If he was really the bitter skeptic he revealed himself to be, I’m sad that he left this world in that state. Last night, at a Bible study, someone made the comment along the lines of, “What do you think his reaction was when he found out?” Found out, meaning found out God is real.
‘Free thinking’ Oprah seeks Higher Consciousness, Not God
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008Oprah explains how her new thinking came about: When she was in her later twenties she was in church one day, hearing all the great attributes of God. Then the minister mentioned that God is a jealous God. And of course this did not make sense to her because jealousy has nothing to do with love. It doesn’t, Oprah, really? What world do you live in? When someone you love slights you for another person you’re not jealous?
That Looks Nothing Like Jesus!
Monday, June 23rd, 2008For most of us, because of what we are bombarded with, have a permanent belief that Jesus was a blue-eyed Caucasian Adonis with shoulder-length brown hair and a short, well-trimmed beard. He was a pretty boy.
My brother-in-law is correct, however; we don’t know about his appearance. What we do know is that he had nothing in his looks to distinguish himself from anyone else. He was common-looking, plain.
Faith and God in a Child’s Eyes
Friday, June 20th, 2008“…Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Mark 10:14:15. As I kid I was introduced to that verse and thought, “Yuck, what’s so great about being a kid!” As an adult I read it and wonder what the big deal about kids was. Then, I had baby, and a few years later, another. Through them, I realize, kids are amazing. And I understand why Jesus said you have to be like a child to enter the kingdom of God.
God Gives Grace, but What’s the Catch?
Tuesday, June 10th, 2008This morning as I was hauling the garbage can out to the alley (trash day!), a song popped into my head that I hadn’t heard for a few months: “Your Grace is Enough” from a Promise Keepers worship CD.
I know it is a reference to Paul and his coming to terms with the things that [...]
Vacation Bible School
Monday, June 9th, 2008I just dropped my son off to Vacation Bible School. He is shy by nature; the same way his dad and I were when we were kids. This morning when he got up, he was so excited to go. As we loaded up in the van he seemed giddy. On the drive he asked what [...]
God on the Mountain – Lynda Randle
Wednesday, May 28th, 2008The church Marc and I had been going to played very contemporary music in it’s sermons. If you heard it on KLove, we probably sung it in our church. The music was one of the things we thought we liked about the place. But the churches we’ve gone to lately tend to play more of [...]
