Christian Painting for Psalm 91

By Julie | January 7, 2009

JulieLast Christmas friends of our asked us to give them homemade gifts only. I made them a couple ornaments. I had my son paint them a container for them. And Marc went to work on a painting, using Corel Painter IX.5. He wasn’t sure what to paint at first. Then, he got an idea. I don’t remember if he got the concept first, then thought of a verse to complement it. Or, if we were thinking of the verse and then a picture came to his mind. Either way, he went to work on it. It was a very detailed piece. He tells me he worked in “digital layers”. Not being an artist myself, I only kind of understood what he meant.

When we got together with our friends to exchange gifts, the painting wasn’t finished, so Marc made a print out of what he did have done, with a promise to add detail and then get them the final painting. The painting was recently finished. Here it is, the verses it corresponds with is written below.

Psalm 91 painting

Psalm 91:1-6

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
