“Freethinkers” Aren’t!

Marc and I were recently talking about the term “freethinkers”. We’ve seen it used so much the past few years. And yet, so often the thoughts of the “freethinkers” are just adaptations of a million different things we’ve heard a million other places for years.
“Freethinkers” often criticize people with religious beliefs saying we just believe what we are told, in blind faith. We have not thought through the “holes” to find the “truth”. “Freethinkers” don’t seem to understand that it is possible for someone to examine Biblical evidence, to have doubts and to question. But, to also find that the answers to the doubts lead back to the Bible and end up strengthening our faith. They don’t understand there are many Christians who have questioned the Bible and came back to it with an even stronger belief of its truth. For them, 2000 years of faith from millions of people and changed lives is proof of nothing.
It goes back to Solomon saying “There’s nothing new under the sun.” Because when it boils down to it, no matter where our thoughts come from, they are extensions of everything we’ve been taught throughout our lives. You can live a life unencumbered by religion, but then you find other “gods”. For a great many “freethinkers” science is their god. They claim they are “free” because they can rationalize that science has proven God does not exist. They cling to this even as top scientists say they still have no clue how life was even created. But even “freethinkers” who cling to science are not truly free. Their thoughts come from and are shaped by books, professors, and studies. Their thoughts are not free, but are a mixture of scientific belief and theories. They even dismiss the history of many theories that were one time believed to be fact, but time proved them not only inaccurate, but also incredibly stupid today.
Every person’s thoughts are affected by the main aspects and teaching of their lives. We are all products of our culture, our environments, and our times. Even in our human thoughts, “there is nothing new under the sun.”

What? Can you provide any examples of such freethinker misunderstanding?
Not true at all. It proves the ability of people to self-delude. You certainly agree, unless you believe that Hinduism is the truth.
