Celebrities Answered the Question: “Is There A God?”
By Julie | September 23, 2008
A while ago Marc found a link to an article with a list of actors and their answers to the question, “Is there a God?” I don’t agree with the premise in the article’s opening paragraph:
Humanity is eternally seeking answers to theological and philosophical questions, and if anyone knows the answers, it’s our celebrities. For those on the fence about the existence of an all-powerful deity, The Onion A.V. Club offers your answer: Simply choose your favorite celebrity from the 52 polled here, and whatever he or she says should serve as definitive proof either way.
I see no proof that to the statement “if anyone knows the answers, it’s our celebrities.” But I do think there are a number of actors who believe they have it all figured out, and need to tell the rest of the world how to live. But, just being on a movie screen does not make it true. Regardless of the suggestions that we blindly follow the celebrity of our choice, the article is an interesting read. You’ll find about every answer here, some for God, some against. A few for Christianity, some who argue there is no possible way it’s real.
Before I show you the article, I have to show you the response to be the strangest. I think she is trying to sound deep, but to me, it sounds more like she was smoking something before answering the question:
Martha Plimpton’s films include Pecker, Eye Of God, and The Goonies.
The Onion: Is there a God?
Martha Plimpton: God exists, and He lives in all the little salt particles in children’s tears all over Africa.
