Let’s Get the Kids Hep to Christ!
By Marc | September 15, 2008
Alright. Yeah.
and this…
As a disclaimer, if you are not now or have never been a Christian, I have never personally seen anything like this before in my life. We don’t all sit around “rocking” to the latest sounds, trying to figure out a way to make it acceptable to the youth of today.
Actually, the second one reminds me of the Happy Wanderers trying to make their act hip with their song “Power to the Punk People” from New Wave Schmenge (sorry, I couldn’t find a clip).
There is a lot of Christian music with a modern sound, but not as forced as that stuff. My gosh. It’s like early attempts at infiltrating pop music by Evangelical scientists who only learn about pop music by watching commercials and spring break movies from the 80s.
If I didn’t know better, I’d think it was all put together by a roomful of bland middle-aged people brainstorming on how to affect teenagers into jamming their “cool tunes”. Because let’s face it: kids can’t tell the difference between the stuff they hear on “Friday Night Videos” and whatever you’ve slapped together; they’ll listen to anything as long as it’s got a beat and they can dance to it.
We’ll put it out over the airwaves, getting the young peoples hooked on the songs; they’ll play those same songs for their drugged out alkie friends and those friends will think the music is hip! Eventually, the lyrics will sink in, the teens will be turned into productive members of society, and no one will be the wiser!
Actually, I have no idea what was going on when they wrote those songs (or performed them), but I get a laugh watching them, and I appreciate the attempt.
Thank you, suzyrobin for posting these gems on GodTube.
Update: Evidently, the second video, by “Sonseed”, may be a fake. Read here also.
