Praying for Gas Prices
By Julie | July 18, 2008
Is it out of line to include gas prices in our prayers? Is that putting too much in the hands of God? The above video shows a group literally praying at the pump for God to lower gas prices. Then, journalists interview a priest for his opinions. Obviously some people think this is going too far. But is it? What do you think?
It’s not something I, myself, have thought to do. But, maybe if collectively as a nation, we would’ve spent time praying for God to intercede on our government, and foreign policies, well, maybe things would be easier now. And maybe gas prices would be lower. I don’t know that for sure, but I know of one pretty convincing promise in the Bible:
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn away from all their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14
So, even now, God could help us. With gas prices? Surely, that verse means he will help anything. Why not gas prices. Why not pray for whatever the next mess our country finds itself in?
