Super Mario Marathon for Child’s Play Raises over $11,000

Monday, June 30th, 2008

This past weekend was one of the most awesome events in gaming and it caught most of us unaware until the last minute. Three friends got together to play seven Super Mario games all the way through. You might think, “So what? That’s not such a big deal.” They also played them nonstop and in live streaming video on their site to raise money for Child’s Play.

Faith Video

Friday, June 27th, 2008

My brother sent me a link this week to one of the most inspirational videos I’ve seen in a long time. It’s about a two legged dog named Faith. Faith’s prognosis from the vet was not good. But her family was determined to help her. Their dedication created a dog who became a lot more self sufficient then anyone would’ve expected. And the video shows how happy she is as well. The family talks about how God sent them Faith to help minister to them after a horrible time for their family.

George Carlin and Facing Eternity

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

I didn’t know Mr. Carlin. I didn’t know his personal life. All I can really know is what he chose to reveal publicly. If he was really the bitter skeptic he revealed himself to be, I’m sad that he left this world in that state. Last night, at a Bible study, someone made the comment along the lines of, “What do you think his reaction was when he found out?” Found out, meaning found out God is real.

‘Free thinking’ Oprah seeks Higher Consciousness, Not God

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Oprah explains how her new thinking came about: When she was in her later twenties she was in church one day, hearing all the great attributes of God. Then the minister mentioned that God is a jealous God. And of course this did not make sense to her because jealousy has nothing to do with love. It doesn’t, Oprah, really? What world do you live in? When someone you love slights you for another person you’re not jealous?

That Looks Nothing Like Jesus!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

For most of us, because of what we are bombarded with, have a permanent belief that Jesus was a blue-eyed Caucasian Adonis with shoulder-length brown hair and a short, well-trimmed beard. He was a pretty boy.

My brother-in-law is correct, however; we don’t know about his appearance. What we do know is that he had nothing in his looks to distinguish himself from anyone else. He was common-looking, plain.

Faith and God in a Child’s Eyes

Friday, June 20th, 2008

“…Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Mark 10:14:15. As I kid I was introduced to that verse and thought, “Yuck, what’s so great about being a kid!” As an adult I read it and wonder what the big deal about kids was. Then, I had baby, and a few years later, another. Through them, I realize, kids are amazing. And I understand why Jesus said you have to be like a child to enter the kingdom of God.

California’s Legalization of Gay Marriage

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Yesterday, California began issuing marriage licenses to all couples, regardless of sexual orientation, by order from their supreme court.

Although the people voted against it, the court ruled in favor, and it wasn’t even close to unanimous.
