God on the Mountain – Lynda Randle
By Julie | May 28, 2008
The church Marc and I had been going to played very contemporary music in it’s sermons. If you heard it on KLove, we probably sung it in our church. The music was one of the things we thought we liked about the place. But the churches we’ve gone to lately tend to play more of a variety, some of it is modern, some more gospel music. I’ve heard hymns these past few weeks I haven’t heard since I was a little girl. One church doesn’t use any instruments, but song leaders harmonize so beautifully, they are not needed. It been an surprising switch to hear those older hymns, in a good way.
I got an email today from my brother with the following video. I don’t know much about the history of the song being sung in it, but it sounds like a hymn that would’ve been played in my small country church growing up. My brother sent a note with the link:
I just found this on the internet, and thought that you might like to see it. Even when things seem rough, Jesus is able to keep and provide for you.
The song says it even better. The message is true, but not always easy to remember when we’ve been smacked around a bit by life. I hope you find it as inspiring as I did. Here are the lyrics to the Chorus:
“For the God on the mountain is still God in the Valley.
When things go wrong, he’ll make them right.
And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.”
