One of a Hundred - Page 90 - Rest, Digest
By Marc | April 24, 2008
It has been such a crummy week for us, but you’ve got your Thursday comic page. I hope you’re happy with yourself. (edit - That was a joke - although a poorly executed one - please read the comments below.) You can read the whole series, as well as see a larger version of the current page by clicking on the picture below.
One of a Hundred follows the story of Jim Hatlen, an atheist who loses the two people he loves most, his wife and daughter. Forced to face life on his own he learns he’ll either self destruct or rely on God. But what’s happens when someone who does not believe in God becomes a Christian? Read, look and find out. This is an on going serial. It updates every Thursday. You can also check it out at Webcomics Nation here.

Dude, I’m sorry you are having a crummy week, but being ugly to your readers isn’t really the best way to alleviate stress. As far as I can see, you are the only one putting the demands on yourself to get this comic posted every Thursday. No one but you has any reason to be happy with themselves that you got your work published on time.
I hope your week gets better with the weekend just around the corner. I will offer up a prayer for you.
Cheers!

I apologize for my comment. I wasn’t angry when I wrote it, but sometimes forget that inflection doesn’t come through in writing. It was meant as a joke, a cliché like a stereotypical bad parent blaming a child for his own troubles. Again, I am sorry I wasn’t more careful about my words.
And thank you for your prayer.

I got your sense of humor just fine, and I also do look forward to reading your comic every Thursday. That was kind of snarky, telling you that people don’t look forward to it. Its a fine story and I like the artwork, I read it every week as soon as I see it in my RSS feeder. So I wouldn’t worry too much if people don’t catch the meaning a small comment in the introduction. People of all sorts are more forgiving of slights (even imagined ones) than we tend to be of ourselves. Then they find themselves wondering what it was (about themselves) that caused them to see something that wasn’t there, wondering how they managed to get offended by the dressing on a dirty window. Bald Monkey, I think theres a story about seeing the log in our own eye they you need to read… I am sure I am not the only one who reads this comic weekly and it is awful of you to make Marc wonder about the value of his work. Lots of us are happy every time it is published on time.

North Carolina, Thank you so much for your defense of me and thank you for reading the comic. It makes me happy when someone enjoys it.
I do see Bald Monkey’s reasoning though. If we want to maintain readership, especially on a Christian site (lets face it, Christians in this day in age could use better PR), I definitely have to watch what I say, regardless of my intent. Not everyone gets the joke.
I’m not saying I’ll be a harmless little PC puppy, but at least not flat out insult readers for no reason other than to deliver a joke. I’ll still cop an attitude, but have a better reason.
And things are cool with the Bald Monkey.
