It’s Friday but Sunday is Coming
By Marc | March 21, 2008
Resurrection Sunday (or Easter) is just a few days away.
Something from my youth about Easter is the tradition of the basket filled with jelly beans, circus peanuts (ugh), robin’s eggs, Peeps, chocolate bunnies (almost always the traditional Palmer brand), and toys (coloring books, crayons, or just one big “main” toy), all on a bed of plastic Easter grass.
I’m not going to give you any candy. It’s bad for you and it’ll rot your teeth. I will, though, give you a few links for fun things to do.
1. A Good Easter Special for Kids. The wonder of Easter is often lost on us because of that stupid rabbit that takes over. And what appears on television around Easter? Usually three things: Something animated fluff about the long-eared, flea-infested, bouncing rat; The Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston; and occasionally something pro-Mormon on PBS for some reason. But the Veggie Tales video, An Easter Carol is lots of fun for kids and adults, while telling what Easter really means.
2. Fun and Games. Here are a few fun sites to go to for wasting time:
Escape Games 24. Hundreds of links to online games, usually room escape games. Fun to challenge your wits and often your belief in the probable.
Cartoon Cartoon Summer Resort. A fun Cartoon Network adventure game. 4 different stages.
Trick or Treat Beat. A cool game, also a Cartoon Network one.
Drop Kick The Faint. You guessed it. The point is to drop-kick the members of the darlings of Saddle Creek, The Faint.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Infocom Adventure. Play a Java version of the old text adventure of the Guide.
Hitchhiker’s Guide 20th Anniversary Edition. Another version with graphics on the BBC Radio 4 site.
Dogs Playing Poker. Play poker against four cartoon dogs.
Snoozleberg. Play Sarbakan’s Good Night Mr. Snoozleberg games. They’re kind of a adventure game that requires you to set off timed events to protect a sleepwalking man from falling to his death or waking up.
Mandi’s Hint Page. This page I go to often if I want to kill some time or need some help on a game. There are lots of links to various games, as well as a link to The Geek forums, with many many more games.
Nightmares, the Adventures. Another fun adventure series by Sarbakan. Before I knew there was an English version, I was playing the French one years ago, called Cauchemars, les aventures. I know very little French, so it was very frustrating. So far, there are five episodes.
3. A Little Something Extra. Here’s a preview of something to come (or resurface) sometime in the next few weeks:

See you Monday!
