Sorry, folks. No real update today. I’ve been waiting for Go Daddy to remove Joomla so that I can get Wordpress installed. I’ve made all the backups I think I need to do and have just been waiting, checking my email too frequently for a notice they have done it. Since I don’t really know the behind the scenes process of uninstalling on their end, I was thinking it would be an hour or so, like installing something. I’m not saying anything about them bad, just that I am ignorant, so I didn’t plan to do an update.
I could probably uninstall myself, but since I installed from their Hosting Connection site, I should wait for them so I don’t screw up anything there.
If it wasn’t for the waiting for things like this, it’s a pretty neat little setup. They have a bunch of applications for getting your site running, like Joomla, Wordpress, and the Simple Machines Forums that we use. Find what you want to install, click a button, get past a few screens asking for passwords and stuff, and in a short amount of time your application is installed complete with a MySQL database. They also manage updates, so you can check back and update from there. You can also roll back updates to a previous one you installed (within 14 days) just in case the newer version has too many bugs or isn’t what you like (just back up your database first).
Hopefully we’ll have something more than a commercial the next time we update.
Happy Martin Luther King Day. Hopefully you are fortunate enough to get the day off. I, though, must go to work today. Because of that, Julie must also work this day because I won’t be here to help her. For all you people who’ve got to work, be happy that you won’t get any bills in the mail today.
As for me, Memorial Day is my next paid holiday. Go, rare 3-day weekend!
