So Very Sorry (and a little something about Queen)
By Marc | December 20, 2007
If you’re a regular reader, you may have noticed that this week hasn’t been as chock full o’ reading. Here at the old Bugskippy global headquarters (read: our kitchen table where the laptop is located), we’ve been running around like a sailor with one foot nailed to the deck (in circles, no progress, painful, aggravating) getting ready for Christmas. Please bear with us until we get back to normal.
So, here’s my feeble attempt at today’s update:
Queen has got to be the best rock band in history.
I’m not even talking about the music here. You might not even like any of their songs and could probably scream if you ever heard “Bohemian Rhapsody” one more time. I love their music, but that’s not why they are the greatest of all time.
Its their stage presence. If you’ve ever seen them perform live, they own the moment. I’m not fortunate to have seen them, but I have watched them on my TV in Live Aid and their Live at Wembley Stadium
concert. Many performers come out and sing their songs, some even try to interact with the audience, but nobody had the control over a crowd like Freddie Mercury.
I started listening to Queen back in the mid-80’s when I realized I didn’t have to listen to what everyone else listened to.
Like most people, I was shaken up horribly when Freddie passed away. I could say a lot about him (and I probably will in the future), but for now I’ll just say he rocked.
Here are a few videos (I wish I could embed some official ones):
