A Day O’ links

By Julie | December 18, 2007

JulieI found two links I wanted to share today. They are completely unrelated. The first one I found surprising, but interesting, and I think important for Christians to know. The next is just darn right fun, especially for creative people who like doing things with their hands. Or, if you’re like me, you like making people Christmas gifts…

Teacher Sued for Bashing Christianity

Last week a sixteen year old kid, and his parents, in association with Advocates for Faith and Freedom filed a lawsuit against the sixteen year’s old teacher. Apparently the teacher was using the classroom to educate him on some fine Christian principles, like this:

“when you put on your Jesus glasses, you can’t see the truth”;
and, religion is not “connected with morality”

Well that’s some fine education those kids were getting. Gee, aren’t those remarks totally relevant to the Advanced Placement European History class the kids signed up to learn. But tell me, how can our schools kick God, and Christianity out, and then claim it’s ok to just go ahead and bash it? If it’s out, it’s out, leave it alone. And how does this treatment give equal education to the Christian teenagers sitting in the classroom, who find themselves as targets of one man’s insane agenda?

Here’s a link, filled with more quotes from the classroom: Church and State

Recycling for Christmas Gifts

One of my favorite sites is www.craftster.org. It is an open forum for people to posts their completed craft projects, or ask questions, and a great place to get inspiration. In fact, many of the projects posted have step by step tutorials. So if you see a project you like, read the instructions and make it yourself. I’ve learned how to do many things through this site. A word of warning, it’s huge. There are so many projects posted that once you learn to navigate it, you could get lost for hours. (I’m guilty of this a few times, back when I had more time.)

So, our sons, especially our youngest, are in love with playing in our kitchen. They love pulling out the pots and pans, the utensils, even food, and using the sprayer in the kitchen sink. Of course, when someone, like me, has to cook in there, it can be hard to find what I need, or to get to it if they’ve scattered utensils all over the floor. So, on my beloved craftster.org site we found a solution to get our kids their own kitchen, and recycle an old entertainment center that has been sitting in our garage for three years now. I could never do it justice to describe it, so here’s a link. (I’ll even post pictures when we get ours done.):

Recycled entertainment center into a kitchen.

Hope you are all having a wonderful CHRISTMAS season, and that your holiday will be happy. I also hope we all take the time to remember who, and why we are celebrating.

Merry Christmas (Until tomorrow, comic day)
