When going through Cafe Press’s forum’s, Julie was searching for ways to promote our store, and came across a topic about Animoto.
Animoto is basically an online application that takes photos you upload, combines music (either from their selection of pretty cool music or your own) and somehow makes cool picture transitions that work with the feel of the music.
Right now, they can only provide code for a widget to put your custom video on your site (or automatically place the widget within about 11 social sites (blogger, myspace, friendster, etc)) or send an email with a link to your video on Animoto’s site.
In the future, they will be providing ways to download the videos to your computer (so you can upload to places like YouTube), download to like an iPod or iPhone(?), and create a disk (from what I can tell by the icons).
This service is pretty darn neat and is a cheap and VERY easy way to make a cool little videos from your photos. But it wouldn’t work well with some "slideshows", like making a wedding slideshow or…say…a trailer for a webcomic, where using title screens and the ability to control transitions/panning is a little more essential.
